Shear performance of SupaCee sections with openings: Numerical studies

Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) sections provide many design and construction sophistications including lightweight high strength-to-weight ratio. The SupaCee section was introduced to CFS industry due its cost effectiveness, enhanced strength, better structural performance stiffness. Introduction of lead investigations web crippling, flexural shear behaviour the sections. However, with openings has not been addressed date. Hence, this study intends analyse openings. Previous test results Lipped Channel Beam (LCB) were validated developed FE models. An extensive parametric accomplished considering various geometric parameters such as depth, yield thickness opening ratios. Since detailed determined that existing equations over conservative, new reduction factor proposed predict ultimate capacity Moreover, capacities compared similar dimensioned LCB A ratio 0.2 is recommended, ability regain plain sections, well availability in order accommodate services.
